On question out the market of fire departments we have developed a special drying cabinet for professional drying of compress air breathing apparatus, self-contained breathing apparatus, after cleaning. Experience learned that also drying cabinet type M45/B belongs to the series drying cabinets with fully automatic drying there was a need for a larger type with a simple manner to hang up the apparatus. After several time of research and testing in practice Harstra instruments is succeeded an entirely new type of drying cabinet with a trolley.
Like our other drying cabinet this cabinet dries also fully automatically, irrespective of whether one or more pieces are in it. The electronics in combination with the software determine when the SCBA’s are dry and at that moment the machine switches off automatically.
If you wish to dry on a time basis, i.e. a shorter or longer period, it is possible to set the time between 1 minute and 99:58 hours.
During development, we opted for a low temperature with a large air vortex in the cabinet.
This drying cabinet has an energy saving capacity of approx. 80% in respect of existing models, which use a system of air suction, heating the air by blowing it through the cabinet and then expelling it.
Our cabinet works differently: the warm air re-circulates in the cabinet, while the damp air leaves the cabinet via the top. This air does not need to be expelled.
The new drying cabinets are provided both internally and externally with stainless steel.
There is an optimal heat insulation with a minimum thickness of 50 mm between the inside and outside walls. This has the additional advantage that the cabinet is also user-friendly as far as the noise level is concerned.
In the F12 model, one stainless steel trolley on wheels with 2 x 6 hooks for 12 SCBA’S is supplied as standard (type AF12).
On the bottom of the cabinet is a stainless steel plate, the water will be removed with an vaporizer. Two robust doors are well isolated and the magnetic strip looks after a good close up. It is necessary that the cabinet stands on a flat floor.
All electronic switching is done by a micro-controller that processes the data for both the thermostat, temperature gauge, humidity measurement, timer, heating element and fan.
The temperature range of the cabinet goes up to 58°C and is adjusted to 52°C
The temperature is read by digital LED display with an accuracy of 1°C.
Temperature protection is provided by an additional thermostat (switch-off point approx. 62°C).
The timer is adjustable from 1 minute to 99:58 hours, the time to elapse can be read on the LED display.
Thanks to a unique recirculation system as well as optimum insulation, energy consumption of approx. 0.8 kW/h (measured over 3 hours including warm-up time) can be achieved.
The drying cabinet can be connected to the electricity supply of 400 Volt and 3x 16Amp fuse.
The drying units are extremely easy to maintain and hygienic to use.
The lifespan of the heating element is extended and maintenance costs are kept low because the heating element is controlled by a solid state relay (without mechanical parts).
